Our product, a scented hardwood floor cleaner, provides consumers with a simplistic wintergreen scent after each use. Regular wood floor cleaners leave an unattractive musky scent that is difficult to ignore. With our new product you can clean your house without worrying about that pesky vinegar musk wafting through the air of your house. The stimulating scent of wintergreen will not only be a refreshing surprise to you but also to your guests and friends. Safety and sustainability are two very important factors that were thought of when designing this product. By using this product to clean your floors you are not only benefiting yourself but also the environment, as all Simple Green Products are eco-friendly. This means that you no longer have to worry about children or pets getting sick from any contact with the product. The bottle is also very environmentally friendly as it is designed to reduce plastic use in each bottle by %30!
Abstract
Tree Team will produce a scented steam cleaning solution to Simple Green. It can clean stone, hardwood floor, tiling and any type of solid flooring for that matter. A variety of scents will be offered including Pine Green, Dewy Orange, Simply Lemon. This product has the ability to cleans floors with the same efficiency as Simple Green’s other cleaning products while leaving a delightful scent behind. The idea of the scented hardwood floor cleaner is to clean any hard surfaced floors removing the vinegar scent. The bottle is thinner and is more eco-friendly, and has a convenient bottle to pour into the steamer machine.

- The scented hardwood floor cleaner has a fairly large potential market. Any stay at home parent, male or female, who has the ability to clean their floor to make it shine better and more than before.

1.3 Design and Prototype Development
- The design from our product is a slight alteration to those found in Simple Green’s previous products, it has been developed by Tree Team from 2013-2014
- Currently, our product does not vary, but in the future we plan on releasing other versions of the cleaning solution that have different scents
- We do not have a working prototype right now due to the fact that we do not have access to the supplies and ingredients that would give us optimal results for cleaning; Our current prototype is just for display
2.0 Product Design Implication
2.1 Manufacturing
2.1.1 Facilities
- No special buildings, just a normal factory. The mold for the bottle will cost around $7,000 to $10,000 to produce. Each bottle will cost around 25 cents to construct.
- We can use the same bottle factory that Simple Green uses for their bottles but we need to find a whole new solution factory for the very unique solution of our product.
- Once we have the molds it won't be that hard to make back the $7,000 to $10,000 and start making profit.
- The bottle is just made with a simple and very common hard plastic polymer and the ingredients are very simple and green.
- The great thing about our product is the simplicity and the cost effectiveness. It has the perfect balance of need and want in things like the bottle design and the actual solution. It doesn't sacrifice luxuries for cost and we don't add anything in the design that wouldn't bust our budget.
- We aren't dealing with any materials Simple Green doesn't already deal with. This makes the process of the production of this product a breeze. It takes the stress off of us and you.
- For a labor force, we don't need skilled workers. Basic factory workers will do perfectly fine. Minimum wage factory workers will be cheap and cost effective. We, as a whole, can simply piggyback off of the labor force that Simple Green already has.
- No special training is needed for any of the employees working at the factories aside from the existing requirements that Simple Green workers must meet.
2.2.1 Facilities
- Tree Team’s new product will not require any new packaging or equipment since Simple Green would be able to produce it with the current supplies their manufacturer’s have and a few minor modifications.
- New storage may be necessary for the new product to house it inbetween the production and transportation processes.
- Tree Team plans to have our product sold factory direct (Garden Grove) by making it available online. Like Simple Green’s other products we plan to make this one available in large chain retail stores such as Target, Kmart, Home Depot, Walmart, etc.
- Right now, Tree Team intends to have the new product introduced and available everywhere other Simple Green products are available for purchase.
- Products that are to be sent directly from storage will be mailed to homes via USPS.
- For bringing the cleaning product to large retail stores such as Walmart, Target and Home Depot, existing transportations will work perfectly.
- If this product needs to be shipped overseas or to another country, Tree Team plans to use the same means of transportation that Simple Green currently uses, in order to make the process easy and cost-efficient.
- The total costing for domestic transportation is estimated to be about $3.50 per unit and international is expected to cost around $3.50 per unit.
- Transporters of Tree Team’s new product will be the same drivers that transport the rest of Simple Green’s vast amount of household products.
- For Tree Team’s floor cleaner, the staff involved in transportation will not need any more training or skills than those already involved in the distribution of Simple Green’s products.
2.3.1 Method
- Tree Team plans to sell this new product similarly to how Simple Green already sells theirs. No more complex processes are needed than those already presently efficient.
- Simple Green already sells their products through commercials and also sends emails out that send you directly to a website where you could buy or find out where our product is sold immediately. These emails are typically only sent out when there is a new or improvement on a product.
- Our product the Scented Wintergreen Hard-wood Floor cleaner, would be places on the market shelves as well as home furnishing stores.
- Tree Team intends to follow Simple Green’s straight to the point advertising through television commercials,Facebooks ads, and Google ads. Tree Team may also use magazine advertisements and place them in magazines that are most popular with parents.
- These forms of advertising will attract our target audience of moms, dads, and other stay at home parents/guardians.
- Each of our ways we use to advertise directs to the target market. For example, youtube ads are to attract kid or younger adults and out Facebook ads are to attract more middle aged parents.
- With an advertising budget, Tree Team will hire media teams to help create and develop the advertisements that were previously envisioned.
3.0 Price Analysis
3.1. Start-Up Costs - (Not True / False info)
- The only things that would have to be changed would be the thing that are needed to make the product’s make up. The Company would need as station for each of the following components. The bottle station, the deionized water station where the water is deionized and processed , and an area that the scent can be made and put into the mixture.
- There is some construction involved in the making of the product, most of this will be in the “retooling” of the manufacturer's facilities so that they can make the product in the most effective of ways. There should be little to no staff training needed before manufacturing can begin.
- Is any construction (storage), or re-tooling needed before distribution can begin? Do you have to secure your own shipping method, or will you use existing?
- All that needs to be setup is an added section on Simple Greens main website showing the new product in the lineup of their already existing cleaning products. There are no needed one-time advertising costs?
- Simple Green must equip a factory with the required items to make the product. This will cost around 7000$ to 10000$. After they do this they will be able to make the bottles. The water and scent mixture will cast around 1.00$ to 2.00$ per gallon.
- Simple Green can keep their same use of transportation for this product.
- Simple Green at the least should change their website to showcase the new product. By doing this they will show they new product to the world and hopefully it will be a dominating product in the steam cleaning business.
- After the factories are equipped the totally cast of the bottle and the liquid will cost around 2.50$. This would allow us to sell it for around $3.50.
- Apply desired profit per unit to determine price. Weigh the potential trade-offs between and profit, pricing, and sales volume. Remember your market research and know your customer and how much they can spend.
